No matter how much you love your place there comes a time where you just feel the need for a change. There is nothing wrong with that. Sometimes it is necessary (e.g. structural problems, wiring issues, etc.), and at other times – we just need a side project that will bring some new life into our homes.
However, there is a problem with these tasks – your space. You just don’t have enough of it. You cannot empty an entire room worth of stuff and put them wherever. You have to plan these things. That is why today we will take a look at the options you have.
Option #1: Downsizing
While this is not the most popular thing, you can actually consider going the minimalist route and downsize what you already have. You can sell some of your old furniture that is largely unnecessary, or give it away to charity. Many people are getting rid of their bookshelves and bookcases, and they are even cutting down on the number of cabinets they have around.
If you pick that option, you will not need to find that much space about the furniture that is left. At worst you can temporary store it in the other rooms, until your remodeling is done.
Option #2: A True Remodeling
Instead of simply changing a few things in the room here and there, you can do a complete overhaul. That includes changing everything – from the paint on the walls to each piece of furniture in the room.
Sadly, this option is much more costly and may not be something that you would want to do. However, if you are all about change, perhaps you should consider saving more money to do it. Combine it with the first tip and you can actually figure out a minimalistic set of new furniture that won’t cost all that much.
Option #3: Temporary Storage
Lastly, you have the option to get temporary storage. Many moving companies Chicago offer storage space for such occasions. With it you won’t have to worry about space, and you will not need to give anything away.
Of course, temporary storage facilities have fees, but they are much lower than what you would pay for swapping each piece of furniture in the room. Plus you can get a larger storage unit and do a complete remodeling not only of a single room, but of your entire place.
Bonus Tip: Call Your Movers
Handling your furniture and stuff may not be the easiest thing in the world. Considering how many furniture pieces are made way too heavy nowadays, perhaps you would not want to take care of them by yourself. You risk damaging the floor, the furniture or worse – yourself.
Luckily, most movers will be happy to help you. You can even get them for simple furniture rearrangement if that is the only thing you need. Whatever the case, be sure to give us a call and get a free quote from us!
