H2H Movers is one of the best moving companies in ChicagoIf we have to attach a single adjective to moving that would be “stressful”. Indeed, for the majority of people the relocation process is tedious, hard and often quite challenging. Humans have the natural tendency for perfection and when we have something as big coming up, we tend to stress a lot about it. Our mind constantly tells us that we are forgetting something, That there is at least one thing that HAS to go wrong. And it usually does.

There are at least 5 things people often fail to consider. These are not the most important, but they tend to get neglected quite often. So if you want to avoid the mistake of not taking care of them, read through! And on a side note – as one of the best moving companies we from H2H Movers are always here to help, so don’t forget to give us a call when you need us!

Thing #1: Dry Cleaning

Stopping by the dry cleaner is part of the regular routine of many people. It is so ingrained in their day-to-day schedules that they often forget about it. So you go to the dry cleaner, drop a suit or a dress for cleaning, and then you move… Because of the stress you completely forget that dry cleaning is one of the tasks that is NOT a priority.

Thing #2: Packing A Priority Box

If you are doing your own packing, you can actually get lost in the routine. So if you don’t want this to happen, you should pack a priority box. What is this? Consider what you will need unpacked on short notice. This would be clothes for work, important paper, bedsheets for the new place, toiletries, etc. Whatever you consider essential, pack it in a priority box.

Thing #3: Actually Booking The Movers

This has happened to many people. They organize everything around the move, they set aside a few days for packing, they have everything prepared and then… no movers show up. But that is because they have not been booked in the first place.

If you are moving with your spouse or roommate and it was their job to book the movers, make sure to double check that well before the actual date. You know, just in case.

Bonus Thing: A Document Check

Do you know what sucks? Getting to your new place, unpacking everything, setting things up and all of a sudden you realize that you are missing some important papers. You have forgotten the folder from work, or maybe an important contract. Or something even more significant.

The best advice is to have a dedicated documents box, which you will only fill with important papers, notices, worksheets and so on. It is also a good idea to make an inventory of all these things (of not the entire home, just to be safe).

Conclusion

Moving is stressful for sure. But you can at least stay on top of it by avoiding the mistakes that other people have done throughout the years. And don’t forget to give us a call when you need movers for your next relocation!
